It’s getting really difficult for us to find funding and volunteers so our resources are sadly limited. We are here for journeys if no suitable alternative is available. We won’t compete with service bus routes and NHS patient transport may be available for hospital appointments. Face to face GP appointments in Burtonwood can be obtained by signing up with Patterdale Lodge.

Alterations to our Service
We need volunteer drivers!
We are in desperate need for volunteer drivers. When volunteering for us, you only do the days you want to, no permanent commitment. To drive, you need a regular driving license and be age 21-75. Please email admin@bwbus.org, call Cathy 07815 550157 or call our admin team 01925 357720 if you’d like to help. People need our service and we are trying not to reduce the number of days we operate
Shopping
Following the loosening of COVID restrictions and increased availability of store delivery services we will be reducing our shopping service to a maximum of 5 items from 1st February
Gousto deliveries
Mobility Aids
From 31st December 2021 we will no longer be providing a wheelchair for passengers, in the interests of safety and cost to the charity. You can find out more about NHS wheelchair services from this link. We are happy to accommodate member’s own mobility aids.
We have two accessible minibuses, which can accommodate one wheelchair at a time, but unfortunately we cannot transport scooters.
Legendary Ticket to Ride fundraiser is back!!
After a long break, our much loved fundraiser is back on Friday 12th November at 7.30pm at Burtonwood Community Centre. Starring the wonderful Abigail Jarvis, there will be a disco, bingo, hotpot and maybe even a quiz. Tickets will be £5 each and will be available soon.
Thanks so much to Cheshire Community Foundation
Thank you to CCF for once again funding us. We have an expensive repair to pay for on one of our accessible buses and will be able to get it fixed thanks to CCF
The community bus is four years old!

Bertie is back on duty!
After our appeal for funding to repair Bertie, we are delighted to report that he is back on the road. Bertie is an accessible minibus, with passenger lift and space for one wheelchair.
On the photo, Bertie is on the right and Winston is on the left. Thank you so much to everyone who donated and thank you to Burtonwood & Westbrook Parish Council and Winwick Parish Council for responding to our appeal. Special thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Paul Diamond, who sorted this out for us!
Bring Back Bertie
We are trying to get our accessible minibus, Bertie, back on the road. The repairs will cost about £1500.
Bertie has a lift and carries a wheelchair enabling us to help residents who may otherwise struggle.
We are working hard delivering shopping and medicines during the COVID-19 crisis and a second bus would be invaluable to help share the workload which is increasing.
If you would like to make a donation to help with the repairs and the overall running of this valuable community service, here are the ways you can do it. Thanks for your support
Community Transport Association
Our work during the COVID-19 outbreak is mentioned in the Community Transport Association Blog…
“We now support our community pharmacy by delivering medication for them as well as shopping for groceries up to £20. We’ve also signed up to help the council deliver food parcels to people and have offered to support Warrington foodbank with similar work.”
